TERHUNE FARMS AND TURKISH FOOD
October 6, 2013
On a crisp fall day, a group of RCPVs gathered in Princeton to enjoy the great outdoors as well as dinner at the Turkish restaurant Efes.
In the morning, a number of volunteers visited Terhune Orchards to select seasonal favorites such as pumpkins, apples, mums, organic produce, and fruit pies. We then met at the restaurant for a delicious meal of Turkish favorites, conversation, and warm camaraderie.
Our group of 16 represented a wide range of locations and years of service: Rowland Bennett, Malawi I 1962-64 and Board Member, John Bing, Afghanistan 1964-66, and his wife Kathryn; Anne Blumenthal, Zaire 1974-76, and husband Marty; Donna Chmara, Turkey 1966-68, and husband Henry Talarsky; Barbara Lences, South Africa 2009-11; Julie Mathews, Eritrea 1964-66, and husband David; Joann Munoz, Namibia 1998-2000, and her young son; Stan and Gerry Nathanson, Chili, 1965-67; Lisa Nicolaison, Ghana 2008-2010 and RPCV-NJ Board Member, Tony Singleton, Morocco 1967-69 and Deputy Director in Tunisia 1973-77.
We welcomed the opportunity to share our experiences and spend a delightful afternoon together in a central New Jersey location.
