Rain or Shine!
Come to the North Jersey RPCV family picnic and be a part of the fun this year as we also celebrate the departure of New Jersey’s recently invited Peace Corps Volunteers!
RPCVs are invited to join us on May 15th from 11 AM – 6 PM at the Harmony Recreation Area in Phillipsburg, NJ to share their Peace Corps story with others, particularly those who are soon leaving for their Peace Corps service, and celebrate the service Peace Corps volunteers have done and continue to do. Although the picnic runs from 11 to 6 (we start to wind down around 5), the NEW Peace Corps Volunteers should be present at least from 12 to 3, because it is during this time they can visit the “Around the World Displays”, and right before 3 PM we will have the main event of the “SEND-OFF Ceremony”.
Please bring some food and/or beverage to share, ethnic dishes welcomed. Crock pots and warming trays can be plugged in. If a grill is desired, you would have to bring one to use. Bring sports equipment, kites etc. A playground and large open fields are available for recreation. Picnic tables are available under the pavilion but also a large open grassy area if you want to bring a blanket or lawn chair(s).
Directions to the RPCV picnic: If the address 3003 Belvidere Avenue, Phillipsburg, NJ is used, people can get directions online to the Harmony Recreation area (Phillipsburg street address but in Harmony Township- Route 519/Belvidere Avenue).
Prospective volunteers or those who have joined the Peace Corps and are preparing to serve are welcome too. Although this picnic is labeled “North Jersey,” RPCV’s from anywhere in the state are welcome. RPCV’s are also encouraged to bring games from their country of service.
